Women: How to find a faithful, generous and romantic man from their choice of pet.We surveyed 2,991 single straight men to see how their choice of pet defined their character.
Based on the pet we could determine which men were:
- The most faithful?
- The least generous?
- The most romantic?
We didn’t let our participants know that the survey was pet related until the very last question. We asked the following:
- Have you had an affair?
- Who should pay for a first date meal?
- Would you take flowers to a first date?
- What pet do you own?

To avoid a cheater you should date a man who doesn’t own any pets as a single man with no commitments will be more committed to you. However, if you love animals then opt for a dog owner as they are the most faithful of all pet owners, you will be the man’s best friend (and hopefully more). Rabbit owners should be avoided or you will be hopping mad as 64% admitted to having an affair.
Generous
Men's views on how the bill should be paidThere’s always a lot of debate online about who should be paying for a first date meal. Should the man pay, woman pay or split? Even splitting causes further division, 50/50 or pay for what you ate. Therefore, we will share all the results so you can decide what you feel is the most important. For our infographic we have ranked our animal lovers on their willingness to ask the woman to pick up the entire bill.

Avoid hamster owners at all costs if you don’t want to be stung for the entire bill. He will be filling his cheeks knowing that he may not pick up the tab.
Pick a man with a cat if you like the traditional approach where the gentlemen covers all the costs.
If splitting is your thing then you want a bird lover.

The bird lover is the most likely to bring you flowers on a first date, closely followed by a dog owner. Fish and reptile owners are considered the least romantic.
